Designations:

CFS (Certified Fund Specialist)

The CFS is one of the oldest designation in the investment industry. Training is provided by the Institute of Business & Finance (IBF) in the form of a 60-hour self-study program. Course topics include, but are not limited to, portfolio theory, dollar-cost averaging and annuities. The course includes a final exam, administered by FINRA (Financial Industry Regulatory Authority), and an open-book case study.

CRPC (Chartered Retirement Planning Counselor)

The CRPC is often obtained by advisors seeking to expand their knowledge of pre-retirement and post-retirement planning. It includes subjects such as estate planning and asset management. Candidate must take coursework (11 modules), then pass an examination. Conferred by the College For Financial Planning.

CRPS (Chartered Retirement Plan Specialist)

This designation is often obtained by financial advisors seeking to work with retirement plans for companies and small businesses. Candidate must take coursework (11 modules), then pass an examination.
